New Mexico statutes require the reporting by school personnel of suspected cases of child abuse and/or neglect to the appropriate county department or law enforcement agency. The school is not required to contact parents/guardians of these students. In the event of abuse, the school staff member will contact the local police and/or CYFD. NO retaliation is to be taken against “whistle-blowers” reporting suspected abuse in good faith; on the contrary, all staff and volunteers are encouraged to report ANY suspected abuse.
