Sister Anne Louise, staff and students wish to congratulate St. Thomas Aquinas School’s Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Mary Lutz.
Mrs. Lutz received her undergraduate degree from UNM in May 1989. She married in 1993, and has two children who were raised in Italy, Belgium and Indiana from 1993 to 2011. Mary received her Masters in Education from NMSU in May of 2012. She has been teaching for almost 10 years and joined the staff of St. Thomas Aquinas School in 2014.
Mr. Lutz is an interactive mid-school history teacher. She is a creative teacher who draws the interest of the students in various ways. She creates learning opportunities for the students and develops success in the classroom, setting high standards for herself and her students and then working hard to see that they are met. Her caring attitude and superior knowledge of history makes her effective with students at all levels of ability.
Mrs. Lutz is also a person who lives her faith. The students see her as a person of strength who shares in God’s own life. She promotes the value and development of people, the building of community, and the practice of authenticity for the common good of each individual at St. Thomas Aquinas School. Additionally, Mary readily accepts responsibilities with ease and has recently stepped in as an integral member of the STAS WCEA accreditation team.
Besides a busy family life and a very full school schedule, Mrs. Lutz finds the time to teach online courses for NMSU. In addition, she enjoys hobbies which include travel, running 5K’s, yoga and tennis.
Congratulations to our very deserving Teacher of the Year, Mrs. Mary Lutz.
